“Hi it’s Bruce from A1 Pest Control Arcadia. We’re here doing a rodent treatment for this property and the owners are very concerned because they’ve got a small dog that they of course don’t want to be affected by the bait or secondary poisoning.
So with all of our jobs we’re very mindful of children pets and we don’t want them harmed in any way. So we’re not going to be leaving the baits in any areas where pets or
children can contact them.
We also keep the owners informed of the places where we will be positioning the baits and they know for sure where they are positioned so that they can’t be got at by the animals or the children.
We use a rodenticide that’s very effective. It’s called Selontra and it utilizes vitamin K which rodents don’t have a tolerance for at all.
Humans and pets aren’t affected by it anywhere near as much (if at all). So if you’re having a rat or mouse control problem and you want swift action against rodents it’s going to be very effective.
Please give me a call it’s Bruce from A1 Pest Control Arcadia.”

“Yeah, so these are the commercial rodent bait stations that we use and our technician Joel’s just opening one up.
There’s the Selontra bait it’s all on the steel rod that the mouse or the rat has got to come into. Of course with these holes here, they’re much too small for any animals – dogs or cats to get into.
So if you want a really safe rodent baiting programme, please call me a call today.”

As winter nears, so does the seasonal surge of rodents seeking shelter from the cold—often turning warm homes into unintended havens for these unwelcome guests.
To stay ahead of infestations, homeowners should take a proactive stance by combining preventative strategies with targeted rodent control efforts.
At A1 Pest Control, we stress the critical role of exclusion—keeping rodents out before they settle in during the chilly months.
Even simple habits like sealing small openings and keeping yards tidy can make a major difference in preventing rodents from moving in.
In the Hills, the most common offenders include the Brown Norway Rat and the Black (Roof) Rat—both notorious for spreading disease and damaging property, making early detection and prevention essential.
Norway Rats, originally native to Eastern Asia, have adapted exceptionally well to urban life, often nesting in drains, building foundations, and other hidden spots.
Successfully tackling rodent issues requires a multi-faceted approach, including physical barriers, strategic trap placement, and professional-grade baiting systems.
Because rodent behaviour is complex and infestations can escalate quickly, expert intervention from companies like A1 Pest Control is often the most efficient path to resolution.
Rodents don’t just cause a nuisance—they present serious health and safety concerns. From chewing through electrical wiring and creating fire hazards to spreading harmful diseases like Salmonella and Hantavirus, their impact can be severe.
The key to long-term control lies in denying access to essentials like food, water, and nesting spots—both indoors and around your property.
In commercial settings, where regulatory compliance and reputation are on the line, preventive rodent management is just as crucial.
Routine building inspections, waste control, and hygiene practices all form part of a comprehensive strategy to keep pests at bay.
With the help of A1 Pest Control, property owners across the Hills District can enjoy a rodent-free environment—safe, secure, and ready for winter.
