“Hi, I’m Bruce Gow from A1 Pest Control, and I’d just like to show you how to get the best use out of your pest control treatment by using these.
They’re actually ant bait stations that we leave behind, and a lot of people get the wrong idea about how to use them—so I thought I’d make a short video on how to use them properly.
What we do with the ant bait is, we don’t just leave them with you so you can put them in a corner and just hope the ants will come and find them.
A much better solution is if you can use what’s inside these containers.
They unclip with your fingers like that—you won’t break them. It just comes apart like that. It needs a little bit of force; they clip in. So just use both your thumbs to open it up.
Inside, in the middle, there’s ant gel. Now this is industrial-strength ant gel, but it’s also very low in toxicity.
It affects ants by – when they ingest it they’ll take it back to the nest and it will kill off the colony. It’s a lot better than just doing a spray, for example, which only kills about 5% of the ant population.
To feed it to the ants, what you do – and I’ll show you outside later on – is scoop it up with a toothpick. You just need a little bit on the end like that, and then you put it where the ants are going. It’s as easy as that.
So we’ll look at that in a little while in the next video.
If you’re a little bit confused about what these little white containers are, they’ll be left like that – there you go.
That’s the product we use: Advion. It’s a broad-based ant control gel, which means it kills a large variety of ants. It gets a great result, but you’ve got to use it properly.
Don’t wait for the ants to come to the container- you actually scoop out the gel and put it where the ants are.
When we go outside, you’ll see how the ants will go over to it like horses at a trough and start feeding on it.
You may have to do it two or three times, because ants come and go, but by using this method you’ll find the very best in ant control.
Okay – it’s all a matter of just grabbing this ant gel and putting it down near the ants, so they’ll start feeding on that. Eventually, they’ll get enough back to the colony to kill it off.
So that’s the ants there, feeding on it—and over a period of time, that will kill off the colony.
Okay, this is the same spot one hour later. The ants have completely disappeared.
