Flea Control

Are you in a pinch because you’ve got fleas? Maybe you have had a go at getting rid of them yourself already and found that they are a bit more persistent than you bargained for, maybe it’s time to look at organizing a professional flea control treatment. Don’t be disappointed that you were unable to get rid of them as fleas are known to be one of the hardest pests to eradicate due to the very intricate breeding and development cycle they have.

Some home owners are also often surprised when they’re told that you don’t necessarily need to have pets in the home to have a flea infestation develop – adult fleas which are still stuck in the cocoon stage can remain in that stage for several months on end. This occurs quite often in homes that have been unused for an extended period of time or in carpets that haven’t been cleaned and treated at regular intervals. When a new tenant enters a home such as this the new activity prompts the fleas to hatch from their cocoons in search of food, which tends to end up being the new occupants!

If you are the owner of a pet or two then odds are you’ve had encounters with fleas before. Here are a few tips on what you can do to minimize the problem:

·Contact a veterinary surgeon and figure out what the best approach is for flea control suited to your pets.

·Take care in cleaning the bedding used by your pet(s) as this is generally an ideal harbourage for fleas. If the bedding is severely infested then you might consider getting rid of it and buying new bedding for your pet. Do not complete this step until you have appropriately treated the fleas on your pets or in your home as the new bedding can become quickly re-infested if the rest of the fleas aren’t dealt with.

·Have a look at areas outside where your pets are spending most of their time as these spots could also be little playgrounds for fleas.

·Always discard any vacuum bags used to vacuum carpets which have been infested with fleas, this takes care of any eggs that have been sucked up into the vacuum.

·You can look into purchasing a “flea bomb” which is readily available at some supermarkets or larger home and outdoor retailers however, this method is often ineffective against more extensive or established infestations.

Fleas are a pest that should be taken seriously and dealt with as quickly as possible, they are not only a pain to have around but are also capable of transmitting tapeworms!!

How did fleas end up in my home?

There are various ways that fleas might have ended up in your house:

·Even if your pet has been treated and cleaned appropriately it might have come into contact with another pet which hasn’t and contracted fleas

·You might’ve accidentally or unknowingly brought linen and bedding which contained flea eggs or cocooned adults into your home

·Your pet might’ve picked up fleas at a common outdoor area such as a park or playground

·You might’ve moved into a property which didn’t have an appropriate end of lease treatment conducted and as a result harboured cocooned fleas

Of course at this point in time you might not even care how they got there, all you want to do is avoid being eaten alive and get rid of them!

"We first used A1 Pest Control a few years ago when we noticed a few termites under a wine barrell in the rear yard of our home. We asked A1 Pest Control Sydney to pay us a visit to have a thorough termite inspection of our home. Bruce and his crew were on time, and very well presented. They explained how they would get rid of the termite infestation using a low toxic method and how their Thermal cameras worked, It worked very well and now we can sleep at night!"

"We have been using Bruce form A1 Pest Control for over 4 years now. We bought our new house on the Hills Area, and moved in. our neighbours had problem with rodents and spiders so they are using A1 next door. I asked them if they could come over and treat our house too, as i didn't want to chase pest around our home. The service was not only effective, but carried out without any smelly fumes that we have experienced in our last house. They solved problem next door and I haven't seen a bug since."
